About Me

Who am I?

My name is Laura and I am the “brains” behind this blog. I’ve suffered from depression and anxiety for as long as I can remember.

My first (and only) job in high school was at a neighborhood pharmacy, and little did I know at the time that pharmacy would become my career.  I graduated from The University of Pittsburgh (Go Pitt!) in 1991 and have practiced everywhere from retail to specialty pharmacy.

In both my professional and personal life I’ve encountered the stigma that surrounds mental health. I’ve seen it with coworkers when interacting with customers, and I’ve experienced it with my family and friends (But to their credit, they have come a long way with their understanding and support and for that I am eternally grateful.)

Mental health has progressed quite a bit in the past several decades, but there is MUCH MORE work to be done. With this blog I will join numerous other voices in the hope of ending the stigma surrounding it. There can never be too many of us.

This introduction would not be complete without mentioning my daughter, Sammy, who is the epitome of love and understanding. She is a constant source of support for which I am so very thankful.
